The EMC held a successful three-day Symposium at the School of Population Health, University of Auckland, with over 100 delegates participating. The symposium was a great opportunity to connect and collaborate across the sector and featured a diverse range of presentations and workshops to increase knowledge of the latest research. It also provided a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge Professor Peter Thorne, whose evening lecture and presentations across the three days illustrated the huge contribution of his work across the sector and EMC. The ongoing impact of Peter’s research legacy was evident in the quality of presentations at the symposium by his collaborators and former students and Research Fellows.

Delegates highly valued the diversity of research topics, engaging workshops and inclusion of speakers with lived experience – 88% of delegates who attended the symposium rated their overall experience as excellent. They found the opportunities to network with colleagues very beneficial, highlighting this key function of EMC as an incubator for research ideas and collaborations
